The Top 5 Reasons for People Wanting a Career Change

According to Joblist’s Midlife Career Crisis Survey, the results were as follows:

1️⃣  More pay: 47%

This may be due to being unfortunate not to be offered adequate pay rises by our bosses at our place of work.

Working in sectors that have low job security or where technology has lessened opportunities.

2️⃣  Too much stress: 39%

We all deserve to work in a work environment that doesn’t stress us out and values our mental health.

3️⃣  Better work-life balance: 37%

This could be due to unreasonable shift patterns that involve late evenings, working weekends or being on call so you never feel switched off from work and hardly see the family.

4️⃣  A new challenge: 25%

You may simply feel you’ve reached the end of the road because you are now fully on auto-pilot, never challenged or everyday seems like every other day.

5️⃣   No longer passionate about your existing career: 23%

This may be due to changes in your values that no longer align with your chosen career or changes in priorities.
