Our Thoughts
Careers & Job-Search Glossary has been created to make life easier for all jobseekers. Whether you are trying to put a CV together or decipher certain terms in a job application, we have put all these terms together in one place.
There was a time, in the past when someone typically would decide on a career then in most cases this would be a job for life.
Apprenticeships were very prominent, and it was a respected and accepted way of moving forward in your career.
There were then on-going elements of on the job training and skills training.
Changing Times
People are now feeling more empowered and changing jobs more often.
Kate Allen, managing director at ‘Allen Associates’ says, “The school of thought which says you should remain with an employer for at least 2-3 years is rather antiquated, it simply doesn’t reflect the modern workplace.”
Bear in mind that such a CV maybe subject to greater scrutiny to ensure you were moving for the right reasons each time.
How Much do You Understand the Jobs Market?
It is more important than ever to have a good understanding of the jobs market and the terms that are often used on job websites, job descriptions, job agencies, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
We have therefore brought together recruitment terms and job-search terms, with explanations. They are all within the careers & job-search glossary.
